It's not clear what your reasons for moving to Botswana are. If you are making a permanent move to Botswana, you would have to apply for the relevant work permit and residency. Getting residency within Botswana can be quite a daunting task. The application process can be confusing. Many expats hire the services of an immigration consultant to assist them. Some information on moving pets - If you are from Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa or Swaziland, your pets won't need a veterinary import permit. However, it is important that they are vaccinated for rabies between 30 days and 12 months prior to entering the country. Dogs should be vaccinated for: Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parovirus and Parainfluenza. Cats should be vaccinated for: Rabies, Feline panleukopenia (Distemper), Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Leukemia.
These vaccination requirements may change at any time, so speaking to your veterinarian may be the best.
The certifying official veterinarian in your district will have to examine your pets before issuing a "Veterinary Certificate of Identity, Rabies Vaccination and Movement Permit for Dogs and Cats". This certificate will only be issued when the veterinarian is satisfied that your pets are healthy and fit to travel. This certifiate must accompany the animals whilst travelling as it also serves as a movement permit within Botswana.
Pets who fulfill the requirements stated above won't have to be quarantined. Hope this helps! Rianca
