Is having one car for a family of four doable in Dallas, USA?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Dallas

Hi all,

My husband and I will be moving to Dallas, Texas by mid-year. It will be the two of us and our two young children. We are planning on buying a car that will mostly be used by my husband for work. Our friends are now saying that we would need two cars as public transport isn't very good.

Will we be able to manage with a single car while living in Dallas? Are there public transport options in case I need to go out while not having the car?

Hope someone can help!

Destination: Kuwait

I have an upcoming interview for a teaching position at Al-Bayan Bilingual School in Kuwait. I currently live in USA (Virginia).

I am wondering if anyone is a teacher there and can give me information about what it is like working in Kuwait? Do you have any insights into daily life, lifestyle and culture in Kuwait? Do you recommend it?

Can you give me any interview tips (types of questions to be prepared to answer or specifics to ask)?  If you are a parent and have a child/children there what has their/your experience been?

What type of work can I find in Timișoara?

Destination: Romania

I am a graphic design student interested in finding work in Timisoara when I graduate next year. From my research, this career isn't paid so well in Romania.

What could you recommend for me to do in Timisoara for a higher or more comfortable salary? I am Romanian and speak the language fluently. What options do I have as an expat to make the move worth it?

Thank you,

Theo.

How does PAYE tax work in Kenya?

Expert Info

Destination: Nairobi

Hi everyone,

Please could someone help me with understanding the Kenyan PAYE tax? My husband has been offered a job (gross salary) and we've used various online gross>net pay calculators specifically for Kenya but get VERY different net salary outcomes.

Obviously, before accepting the job, we want to find out actually how much he'll be able to take home each month. If he has been offered KSH598, 251 gross per month, what will his net salary be? Sorry if we're being foolish here but we don't want to relocate and find out that it isn't what we expected.

What does Corona Virus mean for my forthcoming move to China ?

Destination: Shanghai

Hey there,

As the beginning of this year I was offered an exciting job offer in China which I accepted. I'm due to move from London to Shanghai in July with my wife and daughter.

I'm now a little concerned about the move because of the Corona Virus situation. We've already set the wheels in motion in terms of finding accommodation and applying to schools, etc. Now, I'm wondering whether we need to put the brakes on the relocation process.

Are there any expats currently in Shanghai that can offer some insights? What are feelings on the ground? Is it safe?

Should I move to London before Brexit becomes a reality?

Expert Info

Submitted by taylor1 on
Destination: London

I visited London a few years ago and fell in love with the city. I'm from Poland and from what I understand that I am from an EU member state, I can still move to the UK during this transitional period before Brexit really comes into action. In which case, it really is now or never for me and I've been weighing up this decision for a while.

What are the positives and negatives of expat life in the city? Also, is there hostility to foreigners now?

Do banks in Barcelona have English-speaking staff?

My wife and I will be leaving for Barcelona in April. While there we plan to open a bank account and find a property to rent or purchase. We have never done this before and so are wondering if anyone has had an especially gratifying experience with a bank there. Our Spanish skills are extremely limited so we would need a bank that can provide English speaking staff and a website that is available in both Spanish and English. Any help or insight is appreciated.

Hi ,

I am looking to sponsor my parents in Abu Dhabi. I know that the basic criteria to sponsor your parents is 20K per month salary, and a 2 Bed Room Accommodation at the minimum.I am able to fulfill both of these conditions.

Recently I found out that I need to buy their Health Insurance as well. I've checked through different companies and it is showing around 18 K AED per annum for both of my parents.

Is there anyone is this group have sponsored their parents from India? Any suggestions of what I should do?

Are there companies that help with relocation to Istanbul, Turkey?

Expert Info

Submitted by kipenzi_chidin… on

Hi All,

I’m a young professional moving to Istanbul, and looking for a reputable company to work with. In the beginning, I’ll be renting, and need help finding an agency to work with.

Since I don’t have a position yet, I’m flexible on where to live - though I do prefer the European side. I’d like to be in an area that is safe, has a nice community and close to shops/cafes/restaurants/public transportation. I’ll have my car shipped once I get settled so I’d need a parking spot soon.
