I arrived recently (3 weeks back) in Australia. I am currently looking for a job. Am i eligible for Centerlink NewStart allowance? Or is there a waiting period (like i have to be in Australia for 6 months then only i can apply for Newstart allowance). I am in NSW.

I don't think u can even as an Australian citizen u must be unemployed for 8 weeks to apply and then you must qualify eg: assets test,parents base salary and so forth if u need work desperately I suggest u find your nearest harvesters office and get a permit and pick fruit or if you are up in northern areas try sugar cane
