Hi, I'm about to move to Nairobi and in the middle of negotiating my salary. I'm wondering if any one could give me some idea what an International organization should offer as basic salary for a managerial position.Thank you

I can only advise on my own personal experience but the methods / principles they employ work irrespective of industry or job. 1. Your current gross base salary in your Home Country is the starting point 2. Role adjustment - the sum to be added to your annual gross salary in your Home Country to cater for job promotion if applicable. 3. Total Home gross salary. 4. Less total deductions (tax, pensions, social security contributions) to give you your Home net salary. 5. Any bonus to be added 6. Cost of Living adjustment (is it more expensive than your Home Country to live in Kenya or cheaper?) 7. Mobility premium equating to 10% of your Home net salary is then added. 8. Location allowance is then added. (from the UK this equates to 30% of your Home net salary) 9. Add 4 to 6 to arrive at your net take home salary. 10. Company pays your tax, pension, social security etc. 11. Depending on position the company may also pay for furnished accommodation including service charges (gas, water, electricity, repairs etc), house keeper, security guards, gardener, company vehicle and driver etc.
