Have a look at our Visas for Norway and Work Permits for Norway pages if you haven't already. They're fairly short and will give you a good idea of how the system is structured, so that if this option doesn't work, there may be another one for you.
A student residence permit requires that you find a recognised course at a Norwegian institution and that you have proof of funds for the academic year. For 2013-2014 it was 94 400 NOK. For a bit more you can look at the UDI (Norwegian Immigration) website.
