Hi Roger

Unfortunately,  most of the time in the majority of positions you're going to need to be able to speak Norwegian. Have a look at our Working in Norway page for more on getting work in the country.

Hope it goes well.

Hi again Roger

Have a look at our Visas for Norway and Work Permits for Norway pages if you haven't already. They're fairly short and will give you a good idea of how the system is structured, so that if this option doesn't work, there may be another one for you.

A student residence permit requires that you find a recognised course at a Norwegian institution and that you have proof of funds for the academic year. For 2013-2014 it was 94 400 NOK. For a bit more you can look at the UDI (Norwegian Immigration) website.

I really hope this works out for you.

Best,

Hi there, I have a few friends who are living and working in Norway on short term contracts (few months long) and most of them don't speak Norwegian, so in theory it is possible to do it for you, however I don't think you'll find a job in the field of travel consulting. People who work there without language skills usually do more simple jobs - working in kitchen or ships.
