Do dependents (i.e. parents of citizens, but not citizens themselves) in Canada get access to healthcare or do they have to pay for medicare in the same way?

Hi there

Whether you will be able to claim Medicare will generally depend on the status of the dependent in the country. Have a look at our healthcare page for some more information. Are your parents already in Canada? If they have residency, they should be able to get the health card in a couple of months.

Hope this helped!
