Is it legal to drive in Italy with my British license. If pulled over will I risk breaking the law?

YES! You can drive in Italy perfectly legally with a British license. According to the Italian Department of Transport citizens who hold a valid license issued by a member nation of the European Union do not face any driving restrictions.
