Holland Village is also popular with expats, it's near Orchard Road and has lots of good restaurants and a nice atmosphere. Transport is good, and the Botanical Gardens are nearby (lovely place for a jog).
Further afield, consider the East Coast. You can get larger properties here, and there's more space and a pretty coast.
