Should I buy a car when I move to Kuwait or is public transport sufficient? Any expats with some insights to share? What's hte best way of getting around Kuwait?

Hi Jonny, public transport in Kuwait is not very extensive and only really consists of buses. The majority of Western expats living in Kuwait buy or rent a car. Taxis are also widely available and are popular among expats. It's possible to get around Kuwait City without a car, but it's definitely worth purchasing your own vehicle when you get there. Have a look at our Transport and Driving in Kuwait page for more on getting around the emirate.

Kuwait is comparatively a small country. Cars & oil are very cheaply available here. In fact, used cars are also available in huge amount.

The basic mode of transportation is cabs and buses. The buses and cars are well connected within the country. A proposed metro rail line is on its way.

Personally, I have a car, I would suggest you check the duration of your stay. If you are staying for like few months cabs can do else book a car. You also get easy car loans here at banks.
