Hi there, My name is Alison and I am from Canada (although planning to move to Australia soon). I have lived in both Toronto and Ottawa, the capital. It's difficult to say what the cost of living is without comparing it to anything else. But I'll try. The cost of living is most expensive in Toronto and Vancouver. Rent is very very high, such as 1,800$ or more for a 2 bedroom apartment. Food and other items are the same as in the US, roughly. As for racist, sadly it exists everywhere, but Canada is a bit better than the US, in my opinion. Toronto is good because it's very diverse. You will find a Nigerian community here. I hope this helps, and good luck. Canada is a beautiful place.

Kitchener/waterloo is the 4th largest city of immigrants in canada. We are not racist and we love welcoming new people. the cost of living here is much cheaper than toronto. For a two bedroom it is roughly 700-1100
