I'm emigrating to France from the UK and would like to bring my car with. Can I import my car duty-free, what paperwork do I need, and what requirements are there?

You can import your car duty-free to France if you're a national of a fellow EU member-state and the vehicle is more than six months old. Gotta love the feel of that family unit in Europe, I'm sure the Greeks would say the same ;) Anywho, you just need to provide an official declaration that the vehicle is for personal use, and not for financial gain. You also need to have the following documents on hand:

  • Original certificate of title in your name.
  • Insurance documents.
  • Vehicle Value on the valued inventory or invoice.
  • Original registration card – showing number of engine, chassis and horse power.
