Hi

We are going to Vietnam on holiday next month, but we have concerns as two single ladies travelling alone. Is Ho Chi Minh City safe? Can we go out at night ? Is there a lot of crime going on?

Regards

Hi Sally

While the risk violent crimes remains low, especially among the expat population, there is a risk of theft and scams.

A popular tactic is for thieves to snatch their victim's bag as they pass on a motorcycle and disappear into traffic.

The usual safety precautions would apply: keep aware of your surroundings, keep valuables out of sight and avoid being alone in isolated areas at night.

All the best,
