Hi Expats,

I have just moved to London and I am busy trying to find a job. All my paperwork is in order but I am not having much luck. I even had an interview last week but I didn't get the job in the end.

I have over 7 years experience in sales and marketing and I am a good team player.

Can anyone give me any tips about how to approach the UK job market. Are there any resources you could recommend ? Any tips you have on how to tackle interviews in London would also be much appreciated.

Thanks so much.

Dear Anya, Welcome in London and yes I can understand you are finding it hard to secure a job.

I moved to London 3,5 years ago after terminating my coaching business in Amsterdam. I have had 2 jobs before starting my own business again and both jobs I got via networking.

I am currently an expatrtiate coach and have written a few blog posts on business and social networking in London which might be useful for you.

I don't know your background and years of experience but there are quite a lot of interesting networks to explore and through which you can get in contact with recruiters and headhunters to get hints and tips regarding your CV, interviews and the job market in general.

My blog posts you can read on www.wykeman.com/blog Kind regards, Nicolette

Hi Anya,

As Nicolette has said the work culture in the UK is probably a little different from what you are used to. Learning a little bit about British business etiquette will help you when it comes to landing yourself a job in London.

Networking and making contacts will have a huge impact on your success in London. You should also work on putting together a CV that is tailored for the UK job market.

It would be useful to have a read of the recently updated Expat Arrival's pages on Finding a job in London and Working in London. These will give you some useful tips for getting a job in London.

Good luck with the job hunt.
