My son is entering US high school in fall 2015. What is the equivalent grade in Cyprus? Do they prepare students adequately for college? He prefers to learn sufficient Greek, immerse in the local culture and attend the local schools. Is that recommended? If not, how expensive are the International schools?

Hi Lisa,

Where to send your son to school in Cyprus is a big decision. Expats can send their child to a local school in Cyprus at no cost, but few go for this option. You will certainly have to employ a tutor to assist your son in getting his Greek up to scratch. Furthermore, you need to consider how the Cypriot education will be regarded in the USA, if your son were to move back in the future.

Education at international schools in Cyprus cost around EUR 2,000-8,000 per annum.
