Can anyone help assess a salary package for Abu Dhabi? Also, does anyone know about US tax laws for expats working abroad. Want to know if all aspects of salary package are taxed: Housing allowance, education, et al. Thanks!!

Hi Elizabeth, you haven't mentioned what the actual salary package is, so not sure whether it's a good one or not, but I suggest you look at our page on the Cost of Living in Abu Dhabi - it gives a breakdown of what you can expect to pay for goods and services in the emirate, as well as a general chart of prices. To learn more about emplyment packages in the UAE and general entitlements see Employment Packages in Abu Dhabi - this will help you assess the offer that you have been given and whether it's a good one. For information on US tax laws and how these will affect you see Q&A: American Expat Tax Returns and How to File a Tax Return as an American Living Abroad.

Hope this helps and good luck with your relocation to Abu Dhabi!
