We're moving to Kuala Lumpur in early 2013 and are trying to sort out our accommodation. Does anyone have any suggestions for good areas to live in KL? We're a family of four, with two school-going kids, so would like to be near the international schools if possible, as I've heard traffic is a nightmare, so the closer we can be to the schools the better....

Hey Wallace, there are many different areas in KL, each with their own benefits and shortfalls. If you're looking for something quite central and close to the international schools, you may want to consider Ampang - it's quite central and located close to most embassies and international schools - so it goes without saying that this is a very expat-friendly area. Another options might be Mont Kiara which is a very family oriented suburb. To read more about the different options in hte city, have a look at our new page on Areas and Suburbs in Kuala Lumpur.

Good luck with your relocation and be sure to post any further questions about moving to and living in Malaysia right here on our forum!

Hi Wallace, we are a company that handles all the work permits and also hire Expats in our company. Firstly before you come into Malaysia to work, you should already obtain an approval from immigration. Secondly if you require a good property agent, please find her details as per below, she is really helpful and have placed many of Nokia Siemens Expats in apartments etc. She does not charge you anything as she obtains her commissions from the owners. Her details are Tracy Leong CHESTER PROPERTIES SDN. BHD. Hi Wallace, I totally agree with Catherine on the proximity of Ampang to the city. I've relocated here few years back and am now relocating to Singapore. There's a few international schools within 15mins walking/driving distance in this embassy enclave with sound security. Amenities such as Sayfol international school, bus stops, main road taxis, petrol kiosks and supermarts etc are also 3-5mins walk away. Due to my relocation, I've got my apartment available for rental. Fully furnished 3 bedroom at 2100+ square feet with brand new white goods, beds and furnitures could come in handy for your relocation. Google Desa Palma condo, Persiaran Madge, Kuala Lumpur for the location. This is a 24hour secured condo with full facilities (huge pool, exercise areas etc). If you should be interested, ring us +6016 7989738 or email seulmoi@hotmail.com. We could be travelling due to relocation so leave a message for a call back! Cheers, Sze.
