Hi, this is Vikas Agrawal. I am moving to Bahrain in the first week of October. The company is offering me a salary of 1156 BHD.

I am an Indian. My wife will move to Bahrain after three months. We believe in simple living.

1) Is the salary good or not?
2) What will be rent for a two bedroom?
3) How much will I be able to save?
4) My wife has done a Masters in finance, will she be able to get a job? If she starts as a fresher how much she can earn?

Thank you

Hi Vikas

Cost of living is always a subjective issue. It depends on what you are willing to get by on. That does seem to be a decent, middle range salary. To get an idea of your monthly expenses I would have a look at our Cost of Living in Bahrain page. You should be able to get a rough idea of how much you could save from that.

With your wife's qualifications, it is completely possible that she could find a job. Have a look at our Visas for Bahrain which gives a good overview of the visa system. It has a section on your kind of situation that I hope you will find useful.

You may also want to look at our Accommodation in Bahrain page to get an idea of real estate in the country. To get an idea of prices, it may be best to check online listings of rentals that fit your requirements.

Best of luck,

Xavier

I think the salary is very good. The average price of renting a 2 bedroom apartment varies from 300 to 500 BD, and you could save around 300 BD. As for your wife, I don't think it's easy to find a job in Bahrain since its a small market. But she can try.
