I have been offered job as an assistant professor in a Saudi university. They have issued me formal offer letter and asked me to wait for 6 weeks for in country visa processes. Already 1 month is finished - can anybody tell what the process is? When I contact them they dont reply.

Hi there

The processing times for visas can take quite a while and, provided your company doesn't ask you for money upfront, it is entirely possible that everything is still in order. Especially since we've been in the month of Ramadan, you may find it difficult to get a high level of assistance until the fast is over.

Have a look at our Visas for Saudi Arabia page to get an overview of the process. I would also have a look at Culture Shock in Saudi Arabia, to get an idea of some of the societal norms that expats sometimes have a hard time adjusting to in the kingdom.

Best of luck,

Xavier

Hi Xavier.. I got a job offer from Saudi Arabia 4 months back, however there is no further progress since then. I live in Pakistan. My employer says that they have applied for visa and waiting. My profession is that of Finance Analyst. How long should i wait further for my visa to be processed? Is this much delay usual? I know there will be further time required for attestations and stamping once my visa gets processed.
