I will be working in vancouver for 2 yrs on a temporary work permit. I hold a full driving license from Singapore. Can I drive and buy a car in Vancouver with my Singapore license while on the temporary work permit, or do I need to sit for the driving test by ICBC to get a british columbia license? As far as I understand, a temporary work permit holder is like a tourist, hence I do not need to convert or sit for the BC driving license. Please kindly advice.

http://www.expatarrivals.com/romania/work-permits-for-romania mentions that in order to apply for my work permit, the employers need to prove that they have made every effort to find a Romanian national to fill the position that they are now offering to an expat. How exactly does an employer go about proving that?

Hello, I would like to know more about the housing allowance offered by Abu Dhabi. If they say AED 9,280 Housing Allowance per month' in the initial offer of employment does that mean they will pay the full amount even if you don't spend that much on housing? Is that money paid directly into your monthly pay and is it limited only to housing expenses?? thanks benj

Destination: Abu Dhabi

Were moving from Australia to Abu Dhaba in January and I'm really seeking advice on good schooling for our 8 and 6 year old children. Ideally we would like to send them to the Australian School but I haven't seen any good reviews on it as yet. Can anyone tell me where alot of the Australia children go? Also a little confused by the American grade and British grade system. My son would be in Year 3 in our school year of 2013 and our daughter would be in Year 1 (this year has been her first year at school). I look forward to any advice at all. :)

Hi, I currently live in England and I am wanting to move to Hong Kong for a year or so at the beginning of next year but I am having trouble working out how to legally do it. I am half British, half chinese. I only have a British passport and British nationality. I have family living in Hong Kong. I graduate with a bachelors degree next month. I've seen couple of options available to me; Apply for Chinese nationality and then apply for a chinese passport (although I'm not sure what it would mean for me when I move back to Britain no longer having British nationality.

Thinking of taking up a contract in Dubai, but coming from the States I'm worried it's going to be too conservative and I won't be able to enjoy the lifestyle I have now. I'm not a big boozer, but enjoy a nice ale or occasional glass of wine. I have heard different things about alcohol in the UAE - will I be able to drink in Dubai? I heard something about having to have a license? Anyone got any info on this?

Hi there everyone, Just a couple of questions for those in the know!! My husband has been offered a job in Milan and all going well we shall be moving there early this septemmber! yey! First question really is where would you recommend that we look for an apartment rent wise? Milan centre is too expensive, so somewhere that is good for schools ( we have a 4yr old and a 2yr old, both boys ) and with a decent commute (less than an hours journey to the city centre)? Second question, is it a better idea to send the boys to a local school or one like Sir James Henderson?
