Background
With more than 50 years of history, Hong Kong International School (HKIS) is dedicated to creating a school community that emphasises the importance of compassion and community service. Though teaching is grounded in a Christian philosophy, children of all religions are welcome to attend. The proudly multicultural student body is made up of more than 2,800 children from 40 countries around the world.
Applications are accepted year-round. In the case that a particular grade is oversubscribed, HKIS does not operate on the basis of waitlisting – instead, applicants are put into a 'waiting pool'. Once a space opens up, a child is selected based on how well they will fit into the school community, rather than the length of time since their application.
