If in need of emergency services, expats will be sent to the hospital closest to their place of residence. Flinders Medical Centre is for the southern Suburbs and Lyell McEwin Health Service for the north. There are others that focus more on planned surgery and most hospitals specialise in a medical procedure.

Flinders is a liver transplant centre for all of Australia.

Royal Adelaide Hospital is the largest in the city and is planning to expand further and to move to new premises. When construction is completed in 2016 it will be one of the nation’s largest and most modern hospitals.
