Melbourne Cup
(November)
One of the most popular events on Melbourne’s social calendar, the Melbourne Cup is a great excuse to get dressed up and enjoy a day at the races. The biggest race of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, the Melbourne Cup sees thousands of visitors flocking to the city from not only Australia, but across the globe too.

 

Australian Open Tennis Championships (January)
The Australian Open is one of the biggest sporting events on not only Australia’s calendar, but the world’s tennis calendar and sees some of the biggest names in tennis competing for the coveted title. Making up the ‘Grand Slam’ together with four other tennis championships, The Australian Open is held every year at Melbourne Park.

Moomba Waterfest
(March)
Featuring activities like open-air movies, sand sculptures, water ski and wakeboard championships and Dragon Boat races, the Moomba Waterfest is one of Melbourne’s biggest and brightest festivals and guarantees visitors a whole lot of fun in the sun. The festival is designed to pay tribute to the important role that water plays in Australia’s citizens’ life.
