Safety in Canada

Perhaps the most widely recognised symbol of Canada is ironically the same that stands for safety – the Mountie, or Canadian federal officer.

It follows that Canada has low crime rates, strict gun control laws and an effective police force coupled with an active community response to crime. There is concern over rising crime in urban areas, although the largest worry is theft of valuables from parked cars. In general, crime rates are lower in the east coast and higher in the territories. There are no particular health risks associated with Canada.
