Kids in Toronto
There are a multitude of things to see and do for expat kids and their parents in Toronto, with attractions and activities for children to enjoy both indoors and out. Canadians tend to spend the bulk of their time outdoors during the summer months and winters are great for ice-skating and ice hockey or skiing, snowboarding and dog sledding trips.Toronto’s castle, Casa Loma, is fun to explore and the impressive CN Tower is a must for kids. The Toronto Zoo in High Park is another popular attraction, and children love the African Lion Safari in Flamborough. Take the kids skating at the Harbourfront Centre, or catch a show at the Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People.
In short, Toronto is a very child-friendly city and expats moving there will be hard-pressed to decide what to do each weekend. The city has a host of public libraries for bookworms, and art galleries and city parks are sure to impress worldly teenagers.
Toronto’s metro system is also safe for children to use, and the city hosts a number of seasonal family-centred activities such as the Trail of Lights in December and WinterFest in February. Expats new to Toronto will also quickly find out about all the services offered to parents such as money-saving coupons for kids and families as well as after school and weekend activities, art classes and support networks.
