Frequently Asked Questions about Vancouver

How safe is Vancouver?

The nightlife in Vancouver can be a little dull, with a limited selection of dance clubs and bars. However, this is a minor downside given the cheap and varied restaurant and shopping options on offer. Expect to pay about 16 USD for a dinner out. The bountiful natural surroundings and the accompanying outdoor activities mean that one is never at a loss for something to do.
Do I need a car in Vancouver?
Almost all of Vancouver is covered by the public transport system and the local government has made an immense effort to make life easier for pedestrians. The SkyTrain’s coverage is currently being extended. Soon a larger portion of the city will have access. The SeaBus across Burrard Inlet makes transit from North and West Vancouver to the city centre fairly painless. Of course, the flexibility offered by a car is still desired by many, but expect to pay up to 16 USD for a full day of parking in the city. Public transport will usually cost between 3 USD to 7 USD, but remember to get exact change before boarding a bus as the driver will not accept notes.
