Healthcare in Frankfurt
German health insurance falls into two main categories, statutory and private. As a general rule, anyone who is employed must insure themselves and their families under the statutory plan. The company pays half of the insurance while the other half comes out of the employee's salary.
People with little or no income are also protected under this plan. Others, including self-employed persons, must look into private medical insurance.
Frankfurt has several world-class private hospitals with emergency ambulance and helicopter services. There are no infectious disease concerns in the city.
