Lifestyle and Shopping in Munich

Take a stroll down Maximilianstrasse and its adjoining Theatinerstrasse, and feast your eyes on top fashion merchandise from the likes of Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Prada; or visit the famous Viktualienmarkt and peruse its maze of colourful stalls offering wide varieties of fresh flowers, mouth-watering delicatessens and juicy organic fruits. Bash one litre mugs in the bustling beer hall of the famous Hofbrauhaus while being served by some of Bavaria's heftiest, no-nonsense waitresses; or take a break from it all, and escape into the tranquil wilderness of the English Gardens.
Experiencing the many pleasures of Munich can take its toll on one's figure, but with so many health and fitness establishments scattered throughout the city, there's no excuse for packing on the pounds. Head to a gym and lift some weights with a personal trainer, or join a spinning class and get that heart rate pulsing. Regular training not your thing? Hit the climbing walls at the DAV Kletterzentrum, surf the notorious Eisbach Canal, or grab your skates and speed through the streets on Blade Night.
Although invigorating and thrilling, at some point life in the city can get tiring, which is of course a good excuse to take some time out to pamper oneself. Make an appointment at Cameleon and treat yourself to a stylish hairdo and manicure, then head over to Westbad and indulge in a full body massage, followed by an hour in the sauna, or a soothing dip in a heated whirlpool.
No matter what your preferences are, there's no shortage of activities to keep one entertained and energised in Munich. What may be a challenge though, is finding enough time, and cash, to explore all the options.
