Weather in Hungary
Hungary's climate consists of four distinct seasons: beautiful, warm summers; winters that are bitterly cold, with the Danube freezing over and snow covering the ground; spring in Hungary is generally wet, with the country receiving significant rain during the season; autumn, with its mild temperatures and colourful scenery, is a welcome relief after the hot and dry summers.
Temperatures tend to reach 28°C (82°F) or higher during the summer months. Most Hungarians, expats and tourists choose to spend their summers on the shores of Lake Balaton.
Winters tend to be cold, but thankfully, short, particularly in Budapest. Winter lows tend to hover between 0 °C and -15°C (32°F and 5°F) from late December through to the end of January.
