Kids in Amsterdam

A family moving to Amsterdam will be pleased to know that there is more for kids to see and do in this city than meets the eye. Outdoor activities abound and this bicycle-friendly city is a great place to get out and stretch your legs.

Take the kids rollerblading in Vondel Park, pack a picnic and head to one of the city's fabulous parks, or take a stroll along the canal walkways. Older children will love attractions such as the Anne Frank House, while those needing a little more excitement should set a weekend aside and head for the theme park of Eftling, where fairy tales come to life and rides and activities abound, while animal lovers will enjoy a trip to Artis Zoo.

A great way for the kids to come to grips with their new home is a trip to Madurodam, which features miniature Dutch-styled buildings, factories and streets. Mums with smaller children will do well take their toddlers to TunFun, an indoor playground in the heart of the city where kids can run around and let off plenty of steam.
