Compass International School opened in 2006 to meet the needs of the growing expat community. This well-regarded school has 700 students of over 50 nationalities spread across three campuses in the western and northern suburbs of Doha, near Education City. The facilities are modern and spacious, and the main elementary school building is a former royal palace. Compass International offers a British curriculum with international elements. The school also offers a Dutch First Language Programme which provides up to five hours a week of Dutch language and culture (Nederlands Taal en Cultuur – NTC) lessons to Dutch and Belgian students. The school’s wide range of extra-curricular activities includes golf, yoga, taekwondo, sailing and many other clubs and sports.

What the school says:

“At Compass International School, Doha (CISD), our mission is to ensure that every child is Learning Well, Enjoying Life and Exceeding Expectations. We prepare our students for the future, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and understanding that will enable them to meet the demands of living in the 21st century. Students learn in an environment that is not only fun and safe, but also challenging and academically rigorous. The CISD community is inclusive and welcoming to new families. Students are placed at the centre of learning and teaching, and teachers tailor the curriculum to each child. Our global outlook on education draws on the unique, international experiences of our school community and incorporates that knowledge into lessons”

Curriculum:

The school follows a combination of the International Primary Curriculum and the National Curriculum for England with a view to providing a British education with an international perspective. Students work towards the IGSCE in Year 10 and 11, followed by A-Levels and the IB Diploma.

Location:

The school has three campuses. The Gharaffa Campus, the elementary school campus, is in Al Gharaffa district just north of Education City. The high school at Madinat Khalifa Campus is ten minutes away in Al Baihaqi Street, and the Rayyan Campus, rebranded as Compass International Kindergarten, is to the south of Education City just off Al Furousiya Street, about 20 minutes from central Doha.

From the head teacher:

“We recognise that young people today not only have great opportunities but they also face growing pressures to achieve and we need to work together to improve their life chances. Compass International School, Doha will always promote co-operation between itself and key partners for the benefit of the whole school community.  I hope you are encouraged by what you have read and if you need any more information please contact the school direct. I look forward to meeting you.” ~ Robin Campbell, Head of School
