Background

The Qatar International School, a profit-driven day school owned by Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed bin Thani Al Thani, has a long history. Having started as a small pre-school in 1977, the school has since grown to have around 1,900 students of more than 50 nationalities. The school moved to its latest, custom-built campus in 2001. The current facilities include a swimming pool, large sports hall and several subject-specific rooms for art, music and science. The campus was also recently upgraded to include interactive whiteboards and WiFi, among other additions. A number of after-school activities are offered, for the most part free of charge.

What the school says

“Our student body is truly international, with 54 countries represented at the last count. While the teaching staff is predominantly British and the curriculum taught in English, the school is adept at integrating students from a wide variety of cultural and academic backgrounds. We hope you will enjoy browsing our website and we look forward to welcoming you to the school in person one day!”

Curriculum

The school broadly follows the National Curriculum for England from the Early Years Programme up to the IGSCE, A-Levels and AS-Levels. The curriculum also includes international elements.

Fees

Annual fees for the 2021/2022 school year range from QAR 28,900 (Early Years) to QAR 49,050 (Years 12 and 13). There is a once-off application fee of QAR 214.

From the principal

“I look forward to a happy and productive year and to working with our many supportive parents.”

– Mrs D. Doherty, Principal
