The sister school of L’Ecole des Petits, L’Ecole was opened to accommodate elementary school pupils up to the end of CM2 (Grade 5). The school opened in 2005 and today has about 230 pupils of various nationalities. There is a wide variety of extra-curricular activities offered including fencing, basketball, sewing, drama and more.

Pupils leaving L'Ecole de Battersea at the end of CM2 (at age 11) are guaranteed a place at the French Lycée in 6ème. They can join the school at age 3 or at age 6 when they leave L'Ecole des Petits Fulham, or admissions are accepted at all other grades from other schools.

What the school says

“L’Ecole welcomes children from different countries, and its teaching reflects this international flavour. Family involvement is paramount, as we consider the parent-school relationship to be of huge importance for the child to become fulfilled in our setting. L’Ecole de Battersea offers a great variety of cultural, artistic and sporting activities as personal development is considered to be as important at academic excellence.”

What the inspectors say

"L’Ecole de Battersea provides an outstanding education for pupils and meets its aims…The quality of the curriculum is outstanding; the mix of the French and English curricula suits pupils very well. Teaching and the use of assessment are outstanding; teachers have an excellent understanding of the needs of this diverse body of pupils. Pupils’ outstanding personal development is reflected in very positive attitudes and excellent behaviour." – OFSTED Report

The school follows the French curriculum and is inspected by the Inspector for French National Education in Western Northern Europe (I.E.N). There is a bilingual programme where pupils study English for several hours a week. Tutors are available for those who will be moving on to English schools after CM2.

Fees for the 2018/2019 year range up to 4,260 GBP a term, depending on the grade level and whether the child attends school full-time or part-time. The fees are payable by the first week of each of the three terms.

The school is close to the L’Ecole des Petits campus, about five minutes from Chelsea.
