What the school says

The ethos of the school is firmly based on supporting all the pupils personally, socially and academically. We get to know our pupils well and develop within them a strong sense of what it means to be a member of a community. Children and staff come from homes overseas, but we believe that our school is very much a second home to all who attend the school. Coupled with the GEMS’ Core Values (Pursuing Excellence, Leading Through Innovation, Growing by Learning and Global Citizenship) we believe that the school ethos of high achievement, working effectively with others as well as striving to achieve one’s potential is almost a palpable feature of the school.

Curriculum

The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England and, for children in the Foundation Stage, on the Early Learning Goals from the same country. In using the British Curriculum structure, the school aims to promote a love of learning and enable its students to explore subjects and themes in depth.

Fees

Depending on the grade (from kindergarten to secondary level) annual fees range from 6,000 USD to 17,500 USD. An application fee of 350 USD also applies. Parents can pay in monthly instalments, per term or per year.

"Having recently taken up the position of Principal, it is a pleasure to write these few words of introduction to the school. I have been involved in education for over 30 years as a teacher, subject leader, deputy, principal (of seven schools), inspector and – equally importantly – as a parent. As a result, I am able to look at schools from different perspectives and each school always has a ‘story to tell.’

Nonetheless, I believe that all parents want their children to be supported in school, safe, secure, valued and appreciated. They want their children to achieve well, develop sufficient confidence to speak to a wider audience and, as they grow older, to appreciate and contribute effectively to the wider community.

I genuinely believe that the GEMS Cambridge School, Kampala is making a significant contribution to the growth and development of the children we have in our charge. With parental support, we hope that we will continue to strive and achieve these ideals."
