There are some great annual events that have put have Johannesburg on the map:

Rand Easter Show
(April)
Each year, the Rand Easter Show celebrates the start of the Easter break and has grown over the past 100 years to become one of the country’s largest consumer exhibitions, while a range of live entertainment keeps show-goers enthralled with fireworks displays, dog shows and even show jumping.

Joy of Jazz Festival (August)
Each year some of South Africa’s and the world’s best jazz performers come to Newtown to bust some jams and expats who are new to the city should definitely check this one out. Watch the shows, take part in workshops or just enjoy soothing jazz.

FNB Dance Umbrella (March)
This three week long celebration of contemporary dance showcases all the styles across the African continent, from jazz to break dancing choreography. Artist from across the globe flock to one the largest modern dance festivals in the world – a must for anyone who loves dance.
