International Schools in Barcelona

There is an assortment of international and bilingual schools in Barcelona. In fact, international educational standards are so commonplace that many schools with British and America curricula have a student body predominately made up of Spanish pupils.

American School of Barcelona

Curriculum: American curriculum with an International Baccalaureate option or a local Selectividad option
Ages: 3 to 18 years
The American School of Barcelona is separated into four divisions and looks to prepare students with a level of education acceptable for American and Spanish universities alike. There is also a separate ASB Language School attached to the institution which allows students to learn and practice English outside of the regular program.

The Benjamin Franklin International School

Ages: 3 to 18 years
Curriculum: International and American curriculum with an International Baccalaureate option
The Benjamin Franklin International School currently provides a nursery to grade 12 education for approximately 400 students. Students can either graduate with the American High School Diploma and the Spanish Bachillerato.

Blossom International Kindergarten

The British School of Barcelona

Ages: 3 to 18 years
The British School of Barcelona provides student from nursery age through to year 13 with a British style education. Students are also required to learn the Spanish and Catalan languages, as well as study the history and geography of Spain. The school is located just outside Barcelona in the town of Castelldefels.

The Oak House School

Curriculum: British curriculum until 12 years of age; Spanish state curriculum 12 – 18 years of age
Ages: 3 to 18 years
Though 90% of the student body is Spanish, the Oak House School follows a British curriculum and prepares students for the Cambridge Certificate exams in English. Students study English, Catalan and Spanish and are required to add a fourth language.

Europa International School

Ages: 1 to 18 years
The Europa International School aims to link closely with other European nations and to give students the opportunity to be fluent in Catalan, Spanish and possess a high level of English. The school enrols mainly Catalan students, but is open to those of other nationalities.

The Colegio Internacional SEK-Catalunya is located 25 minutes from Barcelona on the slopes of the Montseny. It offers students an international education from infancy through to the completion of the Baccalaureate studies.
