Shopping in Madrid is top-notch. Expats can find a wide variety of quality goods from various speciality stores, boutiques, antique shops, department stores and markets.
Within the Salamanca district is the famous 'golden mile', an area in which leading Spanish and international designers display their wares, and Chueca is also a popular part of town where expats can shop ‘til they drop. For high-street fashions and regional foods try El Corte Ingles, alternatively, the Rastro market is good for antiques and jewellery. Most shops are closed for siesta after lunch and open again from 4.30pm until late.
Nightlife in Madrid
There’s a vibrant nightlife for expats in Madrid with a host of cafés, bars, theatres and nightclubs to explore. Some of the most popular nightlife venues include the Viva Madrid and Los Gabrieles bars, as well as traditional tavernas in Los Austrias. Lope de Vega theatre has some great shows, and expats can see flamenco performances at Casa Patas. The Room, Joy Eslava Disco and Lavapiés are some of the reputable Madrid nightclubs.
