There are foot massage parlours around every corner in Taipei, but taking time out of your busy schedule to enjoy what is assumed to be in the West a very indulgent experience might not be the relaxed event you anticipate.

Getting a foot massage in Taiwan is generally a painful experience where your masseuse follows the principals of reflexology – massaging pressure points on the sole of the foot that correspond to different body parts. Crying out in pain is expected, as is laughing during those ticklish moments.
