Beauty in Taipei

Foot massage

Example of a foot massage in Taipei

There are foot massage parlours around every corner in Taipei, but taking time out of your busy schedule to enjoy what is assumed to be in the West a very indulgent experience might not be the relaxed event you anticipate.

Getting a foot massage in Taiwan is generally a painful experience where your masseuse follows the principals of reflexology – massaging pressure points on the sole of the foot that correspond to different body parts. Crying out in pain is expected, as is laughing during those ticklish moments.

Many places don’t have English-speaking staff but for a foot massage in English try:

Hyatt Fitness Shop

(03) 2581 1616
16 Chang’An East St, Section 1

Foot massages start at NT700 for 30 minutes.

Waxing

Taiwanese women are not very hairy thus finding a beautician that is an experienced waxer is difficult.
