Pros and Cons of Moving to Taipei
Pros
- Easy to get around cheaply with public transport
- Biggest expat community in Taiwan
- Excellent shopping
- Huge variety of restaurants, bars and clubs
- Easy access and a short distance to the countryside
- All embassies are located in Taipei
- Variety of international schools
- Safe at night, very little crime in general
Con: A mix of cultures
- Traffic is often heavy (which also makes learning to ride a scooter nerve-wracking for novices)
- Weather in Taipei is less favourable than other cities in Taiwan, it is often rainy between October and March
- Bad air pollution, chest infections and asthma are common
