Healthcare in Bangkok

Although healthcare in Bangkok is relatively inexpensive, expats should make sure they have medical insurance that covers catastrophic incidents. Healthcare in Bangkok is generally of good quality, with English speaking doctors and specialists. Private hospitals are especially first-rate and international hospitals often employ staff that have received accreditation from the west. They are also very inexpensive and most expats will prefer private medical aid.

Private hospitals are usually excellent and much less expensive than in the west. This has lead to Bangkok's rise as a medical tourism destination for operations such as cosmetic surgery, LASIK surgery and dental care. Many other operations and treatments are done in Thailand for a fraction of the cost in the west. Some hospitals catering to overseas medical tourists resemble hotels more than hospitals.
