Shipping and Removals in Thailand

Countries from all over the world will ship to Thailand, although; shipping to a Thai location outside of Bangkok will be more expensive.

Moving to inland cities will require a combination of land and sea transport, and island homes will usually require a series of boat transfers.

It is especially important when shipping to Thailand to use a credible shipping company and to buy insurance on the cargo. The insuring company should be one other than the company used for transport.

Do note that goods are very cheap in Thailand, and it is often cheaper to buy new furniture and amenities in Thailand than to ship them.

Upon entry into Thailand, expats have six months to import their household items from their home country. Thai customs are known to be flexible when addressing the deadline, but it is advised to contact them directly two months prior if anticipating a late delivery.

If importing items on a permit that is valid for less than year, a 20 percent import tax and a seven percent value-added tax will apply on all goods. If entering Thailand on a visa that allows stay for longer than a year, no taxes will apply.
