Music Festivals in Chicago

It is a free outdoor classical music festival located each summer in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. Each year the festival starts in June and ends mid-August. 

This is a multi-venue festival of traditional and contemporary music from diverse cultures across the world. The venues take place in various locations within Chicago. 

Lollapalooza is a three day, eight stage music festival happening August of each year in Chicago Grant Park. 

  • Chicago Blues Festival (June)
  • One of the largest outdoor blues events in the world, the Chicago Blues Festival is a must for all expats living in Chicago. More than 70 local and international artists of the highest calibre perform.

Food festivals in Chicago

  • Taste of Chicago

 Expats who have relocated to Chicago will love the Taste of Chicago festival. This gastronomic marathon celebrates Chicago-style food and entertainment. It is supposed to be the world’s largest food festival and takes place in Chicago Grant Park. With everything from deep dish pizzas and hamburgers to prime rib steaks and haute cuisine, there’s something for everyone to enjoy here. It starts the Friday before 4th of July and last for 10 days. There are also free music events ongoing. 

  • Chicago Gourmet

This festival takes place in Millennium Park. It generally occurs at the end of September for two days. 

 

Other events of interest

  • Bike the Drive bikethedrive.org

Each year at the end of May, the Lake Shore Drive is open to bikes only. This is a beautiful occasion to bike with family and with friends. This is a unique feeling as usually this road is full of cars.

  • Art Chicago (April to May)

This exhibition has been acclaimed as one of America’s finest and is world renowned for its works of more than 3,000 artists from some of the world’s top galleries. Expats will love the location too on the lakefront.
