This is an active and vibrant group for expat women – anyone can join as long as they or their spouse has a foreign passport. It is an excellent social forum for newcomers to meet other women, and it also serves as a support group and point of reference. Its programmes range from cultural activities, to city sightseeing to crafts and cooking. It also runs a book club, a bridge group and an art club.
The IWI is also associated with several charities and offers opportunities for women to volunteer at these. Its main fundraising event of the year is the Christmas Bazaar.
I strongly recommend expat women joining this group, at least in the first year – it makes settling in much easier.
