I will be moving to Zurich soon with a 15+ year old kid. I want to know if it is still mandatory to put him into school or are kids who are 15+ exempt form the mandatory schooling rule?

Hello! I wish you all the best with your move. As far as I can tell, school in Switzerland is compulsory up till the age of 15 or 16 – when a child is due to start upper secondary school. Though the specifics in between vary across cantons, in Zurich, upper secondary schooling will not be mandatory for your child of 15 years or older. If you are interested in it, then there are options for both general and vocational education. Have you explored any options or are you considering homeschooling? For more info, you can also check out the pages on Education and Schools in Zurich here!
