Previously, foreigners had to apply for their NIE (foreigner's identification number), however, this is often no longer necessary. If you intend to stay in Spain for more than three months then you should apply directly for residency, using the EX18 application form. Our page on the NIE number, and residency in Spain may be able to give you further information regarding the specifics of obtaining residency in Spain. There are also several relocation companies which may be of service to you.
