What the school says
"With possibly the most convenient location in Thao Dien, the European International School Ho Chi Minh City is the only boutique international school, set in lush garden surroundings, offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum of studies for children aged 2 to 18.
"Our vibrant, unified campus is a place where students, teachers and parents of all grade levels and different backgrounds interact freely with each other within a home-from-home, tranquil village atmosphere. EIS offers a truly diverse ‘melting pot’ of 40+ nationalities and global cultures, where students are encouraged to find their unique voice, to pursue languages, and to contribute to all aspects of school life.
"Our passionate EIS teachers, with over 13 years’ average experience, are well practised in individualised learning methods. With a very low student-to-teacher ratio, particularly in the middle-high school sections of the school, students benefit directly from more frequent access to teachers.
"Graduating IB Diploma students consistently achieve well above the world averages, and have achieved acceptances into prestigious universities worldwide, often with significant merit-based scholarships. For the first time, all of our Class of 2020 achieved the IB Diploma, with 85 percent obtaining the challenging bilingual diploma.
"EIS provides an outstanding world-class education for students, evidenced by our full accreditation status with the Council of International Schools (CIS), while also providing outstanding value for money.
"Being a medium-sized school, EIS is large enough to offer a wide range of educational opportunities, while also being intimate enough to provide unique personal attention."
EIS follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme and offers the Primary Years Programme (PYP) from Toddlers to Grade 5, Middle Years Programme (MYP) from Grades 6 to 10, and the Diploma Progamme (DP) in Grades 11 and 12.
For the 2020/2021 school year, tuition fees range from VND 229.6 million to VND 395 million (Early Years, ages 2 to 6); VND 462 million to VND 503 million (Primary, Grades 1 to 5, ages 6 to 11) and VND 525 million to VND 632 million (Middle and High School, Grades 6 to 12, ages 11 to 18). Fees can be paid annually, termly or monthly. The school has a partnership with a few banks which allow zero-percent interest rate by credit card payment. For more information please see the school's fee page.
A one-time, non-refundable application fee of VND 4.5 million is to be paid upon submission of the application form and before processing any placement assessments. There is also a one-time, non-refundable and non-transferable admissions fee of VND 20 million (for Early Years) or VND 40 million (Primary, Middle and High School) to be paid upon acceptance and enrolment.
From the head of school
"The European International School Ho Chi Minh City (EIS) is a unique learning environment. On campus, you find yourself immersed in the beautiful, low-rise, green surroundings of an education village where children, teachers and families thrive. People often remark that the school is a most welcoming place and comment on the calm purpose that permeates the school and the happy demeanour of the students.
"We are incredibly lucky at EIS, being blessed with not only a beautiful campus, but a vibrant, supportive and diverse community that is singly committed to making sure that every child has an enriching and challenging learning experience. To this end, we work together to develop programmes, activities and an academic programme that is engaging and challenging.
"Philosophically, the School believes in the importance of creating a safe learning environment where students enjoy learning and do not fear failure. We are constantly encouraging our children to push themselves, take risks and try new things to exceed learning outcomes. We emphasize the importance of learning to collaborate, caring for others, asking great questions, researching thoroughly and reflecting on personal actions. In short, we develop young people who are truly resilient, independent learners.
"We are proud to be one of a few authorized International Baccalaureate Continuum Schools in Vietnam, and one of an exclusive group of only 364 IB Continuum Schools worldwide. We are focused on delivering the IB curriculum and developing students who acquire the skills and values of the IB learner profile to enable them to transition smoothly through their school careers and to other schools, colleges and universities globally.
"Please contact me any time via email if you have any questions or concerns.
"I look forward to welcoming you at our educational village!"

From the parents
“Our son Lucian is now in his second year at EIS, in Early Years, and loves it! EIS offers top quality education while maintaining a fantastic community feel. The staff and teachers are professional and caring, and as parents we benefit from excellent, open communication from the school about what is going on, and how our son is progressing. We are super happy that we chose EIS.”
– Haike Manning, former Ambassador of New Zealand to Vietnam
“We are a family with two children aged 5 and 7 and we have been living in Vietnam for four years already. I think I can say that we finally found the school our kids (and also we as parents) really like. EIS has a broad multicultural environment that mixing all possible nationalities. The teachers for both kids are perfect and we even hear their names at home many times.
"EIS works as a community. We experienced other schools in HCMC as well but at EIS parents are truly part of the school (for sure only if they want themselves). What we also value is accurate but not over-extensive communication from school. You receive all necessary information without being 'spammed'.
"I highly recommend EIS to all families who are moving to HCMC. It is great place to have your kids at school.”
– Zalio Family, from Czech Republic
“When I decided to write some comments about the European International School, I first thought that it would be the easiest task ever. I was wrong. It took me literally a month before being able to put into words my admiration and profound gratitude for this school. I couldn’t decide where to begin with. Everything is great about the EIS: how teachers are available, personally, by phone or email, night and day, weekday or weekend; how education is presented as a joyful and delightful experience for our children; how students are encouraged to discover, enquire and question; how parents are directly involved in the school’s life and how the school management listens to them... The list is so long.
"For my family, however, the most impressive characteristic of the EIS is the empathy and will to help of all of the staff: when our youngest son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, not only was he kept as a regular student, but the EIS actively helped us to implement every single measure we decided to take with regards to his therapy. The level of commitment, acceptance, empathy and understanding demonstrated by the EIS towards our son and our family is simply beyond comparison. And for this, we will be forever grateful.”
– Kliegl Family, from Germany
