Background

L'Ecole des Petits was founded in 1977, and was the first independent pre-primary school in Great Britain to be officially recognised as an Ecole Homologuée by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE). The school is attended by approximately 127 children between the ages of 3 and 6.

The school offers French-curriculum education for children in French or bilingual classes, as well as English classes that follow the British curriculum. The school has a canteen, a library, an indoor gym and an outdoor playground in its beautifully restored Victorian villa campus. 

Students often move on to the school's sister school, L'Ecole de Battersea, which was opened in 2005 to accommodate children from pre-kindergarten up to CM2 (Year 6).

The school welcomes pupils from all over the world. The school follows the official French national curriculum and offers pupils an education in a warm and friendly atmosphere where, thanks to a policy of small classes, each child is encouraged to express themselves. All French classes receive daily teaching in English.”

Curriculum

The school offers both the French National Curriculum and the Foundation Stage of the National Curriculum for England, in French and English respectively. There is also a bilingual stream that follows the French curriculum.
