Move to Switzerland from France

Expert Info

Submitted by Silverking on Sun, 03/24/2019 - 10:04
Destination: Switzerland

Presently living on the French side but keen to move onto the Swiss side to make things easier for my wife to work, but it seems the choice of housing drops dramatically, while the cost of rental $$$ rises exponentially... as does the contract terms, long stay, heavy deposit, etc...What are the key advantages of living in Switzerland versus being a 'Frontalier' moving back and forth to work daily...We both love Switzerland so living there would be a pleasure apart from the accommodation issues which would be much more costly and require us to move into a smaller garden etc...

There is a vague comment on the schools page of this website about schools in the UK that follow the Australian curriculum.  But I can not find any such schools.  Is anyone aware of any?

IF not, are there schools favoured by Australians?  I am concerned about culture shock for my kids.

Medicines in Dubai

Expert Info

Submitted by Cali on Sat, 03/16/2019 - 22:05
Destination: Dubai

I have just been offered a job in Dubai and I’m excited to accept but have one thing I’m uncertain on... I am a cancer survivor, and as such take opioids to combat chronic pain.

My question is this: will a doctor be able to prescribe me morphine/oxycodone tablets to take each day? And if so, will medical insurance cover it or will I have to pay (as I did when working in Mexico)?

Many thanks.

Will my family be happy in Miami?

Hi there I have been offered a two-year work contract in Miami starting in July 2019. My main concern is trying to find the right area to live in and the best school for my children. What are the most popular areas for English-speaking expats in the city? Will the fact that my children can't speak Spanish make the adjustment more difficult for them? Thanks in advance for the help!

I am relocating to Cape Town with my husband and twin six year old daughters. They will be joining the Hout Bay International School. We are really torn between Constantia and Noordhoek in terms of where to live, so keen to seek some advice on pros and cons of each.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Have heard some negatives about security on Nordhoek beach but not sure if those concerns should extend to the broader living area too?

Many thanks in advance for any advice - greatly appreciated!

Hi! My family and I are thinking to move to Kuala Lumpur. We are in the mid 30s with a 20 months old baby boy. My husband and I work as Scrum Masters in the IT industry, and we are looking for similar jobs in Kuala Lumpur. We are both Romanian and currently living in Barcelona (Spain).

Before deciding to take this big step, we'd want to know what to expect from life there. We have several questions and some concerns, we hope that somebody can throw some light on them. Having the young member in our family our main concern is the life-work balance.

Hi everybody,

I received a job offer on Abu Dhabi and I am trying to determine how much would be enough to accept regarding the salary offered by the company. I haven’t receive an amount yet, but I am trying to anticipate. After doing lots of research I noticed that there are a lot of opinions about salaries and compensations, so I want to express clearly as possible what I would like to have in matter of lifestyle, as it would not be a good decision to move if would have the same lifestyle than what I have where I live.

We may be relocating from Canada to Stockholm and we have an 11 and 13 year old. Can anyone recommend any good local international schools where instruction would be mainly in English? Also, I've read that it is difficult to get into many of these schools and there may be long waiting lists? Is this accurate?

I will be moving to Belgium for work in May and my office is located in Rue Montoyer, Brussels, Belgium. I was looking for an apartment somewhere in the suburbs of the city and not really in Brussels. A distance of about 10-15 KMS is also fine, could you suggest some good places where I can find affordable housing for a family of 3 with total rent+ utilities in the range of 900-100 Euros? Can somebody suggest?
