I am a retired American citizen living in Romania. I opened here a bank account in US dollars, hoping I'll receive my Social Security benefits in US dollars. To my surprise the SSA sent my benefits in Romanian lei! After inquiring by email to SSA they say they don't send US dollars to Romania! Is Social Security doing this to all expats in different countries around the world or this is my bad luck? Can you guys send me an email if you have an answer? I have the SSA email saved.

Hello I need an advice on what can I do in my case. My husband is currently living in Bahrain with a work visa, we are USA citizens. I want to move there with him and bring my oldest daughter from my previous marriage who the biological dad did not sign the birth certificate so she has my maiden name. I was told by people that I can not bring her because it is a Muslim Country, and it is not allowed or seen right to live there like that, perhaps only to visit. I want to know what are my possibilities to bring her. Have someone had a similar situation? what can I do?

best regards

Old Man also wants to get an academic degree

I'm 48 years old and probably slightly above the average of the EXPAT community.

Nevertheless, I am writing my MBA Master Thesis at the Berlin School Of Creative Leadership! Almost 20 years after my first attempt when I left university with a lot of inspiration but no degree.

However, the world is so exciting,  fascinating, and beautiful, so I gave myself a second chance.

I am of Russian-German descent and now work in a creative profession in the Philippines.

Please help by taking part in my research!

As part of my MSc in Organisational Psychology at Birkbeck University, I am looking to interview expatriates that received pre-departure/ post-arrival training or both when sent to work in an international assignment. In this research, I aim to explore expatriates' perceptions of the impact of participation in cross-cultural training, whether the candidates consider it necessary and if so, how does it impact their experience in the international assignments.
The selection of participants will be based on some criteria:
The participant must be UK expatriate

Hello, my husband is in the interview process of getting a job in Abu Dhabi. We are a family of 5 (couple with three young kids) from Australia. The offer looks like it'll be 50,000 Dirhams a month, which is obviously great, but nothing has been offered about housing, schooling, etc. The only extras mentioned were his flight over (not ours) and basic health insurance for him.

Hello everybody,

I am living in Bryanston-Rivonia area. I decided to bring my 9 years old son (turning 10 end of October) to Johannesburg. We are Turkish and he had his first 4 grade in Turkey, in Turkish along with a very basic English education.

Is there any course (recommendation) for improving his English or orientation ?

Which grade he needs to start? Is there any test or exam or consultation for finding his grade or level?

And which schools can you recommend, preferably in Bryanston-Sandton-Rivonia area,

Thanks in Advance

Changing visa status while in South Korea

Expert Info

Submitted by LH on Sun, 05/19/2019 - 22:34
Destination: South Korea

I am moving to South-Korea next year to study. The university I want to go to (Hanguk university) doesn't allow me to stay more than a week after I finished my semester (end of June). I would like to stay in South-Korea for the summer to explore the country. I was wondering if it would be possible to change my student visa to a tourist visa while being there, without having to leave the country.

Thank you in advance for your reply.
