Hi expat arrivals We have applied for places for our daughter at Brighton College Abu Dhabi, can anyone please recommend me which apartments/developments are closest to this school/area. We need 2 bed apartment and have a budget of c130k AED per year to spend on housing. We were keen at Reem Island but this seems far from BCAD. Any ideas on how long the morning school run will be from Reem island? Any good areas/areas to particularly avoid? Thanks

Hi Kal777, Brighton College is located near the Bloom Gardens Development, which still has some sections under development, and is quite central. Popular developments around the area include Mushrif Gardens and Mangrove Village, Al Seef, Al Qurm and the Palm Oasis compounds. All of these are located relatively close to the school.

Perhaps chat to the school to see if they have any recommendations, as well as to your or your husband's colleagues about where they live and good areas near the school.

Hi KAL777 Al Reem Island I think would be a very good option for you if you want to live in an apartment. I'm guessing that it would only take you about 15 minutes to drive to Brighton from there and it should be a good run because most people will be driving into the city, while you will be driving out of the city. Al Reem is also well placed for after school and weekends. They also have a huge Waitrose in Sun Tower and some great restaurants. Reem Island is quite new so I'm sure there will be a lot of new shops there soon. If you were looking for a villa then there are compounds quite close to Brighton, for instance Al Maqta Village which is only about 1km down the road. Not sure though if you will get a villa there for 130 000.
