Hello guys,

I am new to this site so any advice or replies would be more than welcome and much appreciated!

Basically my husband has been offered a job with a package up move to Abu Dhabi. We are seriously considering this but just waiting for contract. The housing allowance is AED 110 per year.

Basically I'd like to know where the best places are to look at? My husband will only get 7 days from the date he arrives to choose us somewhere suitable he drives but I don't and my daughter is 2.5yrs old.

Some people have recommended the corniche and khalidya as we have been asking about where the British ex pat communities are.

Can anybody else recommend anywhere nice? Really scary looking at all different places not having a clue what is what. Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance :)

Hi Linzi,

First of all I am going to assume the housing allowance is AED 110,000 per annum.

As you've already heard the Corniche and Khalidya are particularly suited to expats with children. However, rent is high in these areas - a two bedroom apartment starts at around AED 140,000 per month.

You could also consider areas such as Al Rowdah and Al Mushraf where apartments start at around 95,000.

I suggest you contact a few agents before your husband sets off for Abu Dhabi. They will be able to arrange viewings for suitable properties ahead of time which will allow him to use his time more effectivley.

Have a read of the Expat Arrivals pages on Accomodation in Abu Dhabi and Areas and Suburbs in Abu Dhabi for more information on family-friendly areas and other tips to aid you in your search for property in Abu Dhabi.

Good luck with the move to Abu Dhabi.
