I've been in country for 3 weeks and a white Sr. Manager on assignment. My husband is African American and will be joining me in 1 month. So far I have seen no interracial couples in South Africa or Joburg. Will we have issues together? We are in our early 50s and been married for 20 years....not that it matters :) Thanks!

Hi MabelsMomma,

I've been living in Cape Town for the past 3 years as part of an interracial couple and I haven't experienced any problems. I imagine the situation is much the same in Jo'burg as it is a big cosmpolitan city. There is a large expat community in Jo'burg so you shouldn't have any real problem meeting people.

You may experience some issues if you travel to some of the more rural parts of South Africa. But I wouldn't say there will be any problems, its more a case that people will be curious as they wouldn't have seen many interracial couples before.

Hope this helps.
